I believe that counseling/therapy is about learning the skills that will help us deal with life’s stressors in appropriate ways, while discovering how to feel deeply, think rationally, and communicate effectively, from a place of genuineness and authenticity.
Often, that requires facing issues that were placed on the backburner, being open to the suffering and discomfort that is inevitably a part of life, but also reconnecting with our “spark” and accumulating positives through noticing the things that make our lives more worth living.
This work is also done through a lens of understanding the way our brain and nervous system function, and what science-backed tools we have at our disposal to improve how we feel day in, and day out.
